Timken is seeking a CNC Lathe Operator to set up, program, and run CNC lathes producing high-quality components per engineering specs in Morganton, NC.

Role requires strong machining knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to adjust programs as needed. Day shift, Monday–Friday, with overtime. Benefits start on day one and opportunities for professional development are available.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 18 years of age or older.
• Must be eligible to work in the US.
• Willing to work required overtime.
• Strong mechanical skills and basic math abilities.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, manuals, and specifications to determine dimensions, tolerances, and machining requirements.
• Set up and secure fixtures, cutting tools, materials, and machine attachments, including mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.
• Adjust machining parameters such as speed, feed rate, coolant flow, and cutting depth/angle, or modify CNC programs as necessary.
• Perform minor programming adjustments as needed (less than 50% of the time).
• Initiate and monitor machine operations, troubleshooting and correcting malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions.
• Conduct first-part inspections to verify compliance with specifications.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring machines are free from debris.
• Follow all safety protocols, including PPE such as safety glasses and steel-toed shoes.
