Training to CNC Machinist

Job summary

A&R Engineering Co., Inc. in Los Angeles area is seeking a CNC lathe operator with 1–2 years of experience. You will edit programs, set tools, and measure parts with basic gauges. Training is provided to advance to CNC machinist and Setup machinist roles.

Overtime and Saturdays may be required. ITAR-controlled parts require U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident status. Salary ranges from $18 to $22 per hour with full benefits.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years experience as a CNC lathe operator.
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret work orders.
• Must be able to perform basic tool setting and tool edits.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC lathes and perform basic program edits.
• Set and align tools and fixtures for production runs.
• Use basic measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, thread gauges).
• Read blueprints and interpret specs and work orders.
• Record 1st article measurements and complete related paperwork.
• Understand and fill out SPC charts as required.

Job description

• Candidate must have 1 to 2 years’ experience as a CNC Machine Lathe operator. Experience with Takisawa, Kitamura, DMG Mori and Haas equipment preferred.
• Operator must be able to perform basic program edits and be able to set tools
• Operator must have experience in the use of basic measuring tools (dial calipers, ID, OD micrometers, bore gages, thread gages).
• Be able to understand SPC requirements and fill out SPC charts.
• Perform 1st article measurements as directed by lead person or Production Manager, understand and be able to fill out 1st article paperwork.
• Must be able to read and understand English to interpret blueprints, industry specifications and work order instructions.
• A&R will provide training to enable the candidate to move into CNC machinist and Setup machinist position.
• The candidate must have impeccable attendance and be willing to work overtime and Saturdays as needed

• Salary Range: $18-$22/hr
