Job summary

General Dynamics - Ordnance and Tactical Systems seeks an NC Lathes #1 operator for the 3rd shift in Saco, ME. You will set up and operate multi-axis NC/CNC lathes, performing turning, facing, boring, threading, drilling, reaming, and contouring based on blueprints and process sheets.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED (associates preferred) and over four years of technical training via apprenticeship or trade school.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associates degree preferred.
• Over four years of technical training via apprenticeship or trade school background.
• Knowledgeable about CNC lathe controls, speeds, feeds, materials, and tool wear.
• Experienced with keyboard and control panel functions that operate machining operations.

Responsibilities

• Set up lathe and load CNC programs; adjust offsets as required.
• Position workpiece in chucks or fixtures per setup instructions.
• Verify workpiece with fixed gauges, calipers, and micrometers; ensure tolerances.
• Maintain safety and housekeeping; follow process maintenance checklists.
• May perform Welder Production tasks as directed by supervision.
