Kurt Manufacturing is seeking a CNC Lathe Machinist II to join our team at our contract Machining Division in Fridley Minnesota. This position is responsible for setting up, adjusting, and operating numerically controlled machine tools. This role involves performing a series of progressive machining operations on repetitive workpieces, ensuring close and exacting tolerances and finish specifications.

Our ideal candidate can set-up and operate lathe machines, perform precision machining operations; interpret blueprints, specifications, and routings; operate multiple machines, and will have the mathematical aptitude necessary for success in this role.

Compensation

The anticipated starting pay range for this position is $29.00 to $38.00. The exact rate may be based on a combination of factors including knowledge, experience, skills, abilities, and education.

Shift: 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Monday - Friday

Essential Functions

  • Work from programming instructions, operational data and machine set up instructions defining and coding tool arrangements, material clamping methods, machine calibrations and console settings.
  • Check parts for conformance to specifications.
  • May be required to run more than one unit simultaneously.
  • Requires a broad knowledge of machining techniques and familiarity with CNC operational procedures.

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • 3 years of related experience
  • Ability to perform metric conversions
  • Must be able to read and understand blueprints, specifications, and routings

Preferred

  • Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school
  • 4 or more years of related experience

Strength Level Rating: Medium work. Work involves exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, or an amount greater than negligible and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.

  • Reach by extending hands and arms
  • Handle objects by seizing, holding, grasping, turning or otherwise working with hands

  • Have near acuity with clarity of vision at 20 inches or less
  • Judge distances and spatial relationships (see objects three-dimensionally)

The worker will occasionally (up to 1 / 3 of the time):

  • Stoop by bending body downward and forward requiring full use of the lower extremities and back muscles
  • Kneel by bending legs at knees to come to rest on knee(s)
  • Crouch by bending body downward and forward by bending legs and spine
  • Perceive attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature, or texture by touch
  • Hear by perceiving the nature of sounds by ear
  • Adjust vision to bring objects into sharp focus
  • Identify and distinguish colors
