Job summary

Modern Industries, Inc. seeks a skilled machinist for a 3rd shift Fri–Sun 5:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in Tempe, AZ. You will load/unload machines, set feeds and speeds, and verify part quality with gauges, ensuring pieces meet exact specifications.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or equivalent, basic blueprint reading, and familiarity with Lean/5S practices. A $4,000 sign-on bonus is paid in two installments, with a 10% shift differential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 2 years of experience preferred.
• 5S and Lean Manufacturing training.
• Basic blueprint reading.
• Documentation and Modern Production System knowledge.
• Inspection techniques for machinists, SPC charts and GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Load, unload, start, and stop machines.
• Set feeds and speeds during machining.
• Monitor gauges and indicators for quality.
• Detect dull tools and excessive vibration.
• Measure finished parts to specs with precision tools.
• Compute machine movements per drawings.

Job description

** 3rd Shift Friday - Sunday 5am-5:30pm*** 10% differential. Work 36 get paid 40**

** Sign-On Bonus: $4000. 1st half paid after 30 days, and 2nd half paid after 60 days.***

Duties/Responsibilities

• Loads, Unloads, Starts, and Stops Machines.
• Sets the feeds and speeds of machines during the machining process.
• Watches gauges, dials, and other key indicators to make sure machines are working properly and work-pieces meet quality standards.
• Monitors machines during operation in order to detect dull cutting tools and excessive vibration.
• Measures dimensions of finished work-pieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments, templates, and fixtures.
• Calculates and sets machine movements according to drawing specs.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities

• Knowledge of basic hand tools, including their uses and maintenance.
• Ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine to exact positions.
• Ability to control the operations of machining equipment and systems.
• Basic mathematics knowledge, particularly Trigonometry.

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent. 2 years of experience in relevant field preferred.
• 5S and Lean Manufacturing training.
• Basic Blueprint Reading.
• Documentation and Modern’s Production System.
• Inspection Techniques for Machinists. SPC Charts and Tools. Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. Adjusting Boring heads.
