Job summary

CMI Group – Systems 3 is seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Machinist to set up and operate CNC lathes for precision aerospace and defense parts in Tempe. You will read blueprints, verify tolerances, load and adjust programs, and perform first-piece checks to ensure quality.

The role requires complete setups, tooling adjustments, and in-process inspections while collaborating with programmers, QA, and production leadership. A strong focus on safety and efficiency is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of CNC lathe setup and operation experience in precision manufacturing.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and inspection requirements.
• Experience loading, verifying, and editing CNC programs.
• Proficiency with precision measuring instruments and first-piece verification.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC lathes to manufacture precision aerospace/defense components.
• Load, verify, and edit CNC programs; adjust tooling and offsets for accuracy.
• Perform in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, CMM, and gauges.
• Collaborate with programmers, engineering, quality, and production leadership to resolve issues.
• Maintain 5S housekeeping and safety compliance; participate in continuous improvement.
