Qualifications

Job description

The CNC Lathe Machinist 2 is part of our Subsea Division located in Spring, Texas. A CNC Lathe Machinist 2 is responsible for understanding the set‑up, programming and operation of all CNC and manual Lathes as well as CNC milling machines according to Hunting procedures and engineering blueprints. This machinist has no direct supervision over employees but should be able to supervise training, preventative maintenance and daily production efforts. Overtime is required in this position.

Responsibilities
  • Operate all equipment, CNC, or manual Lathes to produce quality parts.
  • Make any machine setup or tooling change over.
  • Complete knowledge and understanding of all inspection and gauging tools, ability to complete informational and in process inspections.
  • Assist in tooling design for future jobs.
  • Trouble shoot machines and CNC programs for problems and inefficiencies
  • General maintenance on equipment.
  • Inventory control of machining consumables.
  • Material handling
  • Operation of cranes and forklifts
  • Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, grinders, saws, and manual machines with limited supervision
  • Load raw materials, secure workholding, and verify proper machine alignment
  • Make machine offsets independently and perform basic program edits when required
  • Produce first article parts and obtain verification from higher level machinists when needed
  • Create, update, and retain setup sheets according to company procedures
  • Interpret complex blueprints, job travelers, and engineering drawings
  • Perform in process inspections using GD&T principles and precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges)
  • Monitor machine performance, and minor troubleshooting assist maintenance as needed, adjust feeds/speeds, and correct program sequence issues as needed
  • Deburr, clean, and finish machined parts to specification
  • Assist in training lower level machinists in primary machine functions
  • Follow all safety, quality, and production standards
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and perform basic machine maintenance
Required Skills and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong mathematical background or machine trade school is required; 3 years in a machine shop environment
  • 5-10 year's experience in machining of CNC and Manual machines
  • Experience in an Engineer-to-Order or Make-to-Order shop environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret critical dimensions on engineering blueprints.
  • Experience with using the Machinist Handbook
  • Training on safety, drawings, shop routers or work instructions as needed.
  • Experience using statistical process controls
  • Commitment to high-quality standards and continuous improvements.
  • Organized, ability to multi-task, and work flexible hours
  • Fanuc control knowledge required.
  • Experience with long bed lathe preferred.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment/Conditions
  • This schedule includes weekend shifts.
  • The ability to work planned and unplanned overtime.
  • On-Site presence is required.
