Ultimate Staffing represents an aerospace manufacturer in Macomb County seeking CNC Lathe Machinists for direct-hire roles. Earn $28-32/hour with overtime paid daily after 8 hours and shifts from 5:30pm-5am or 6am-5:30pm.

Expect to work 50–55 hours per week, set up and operate CNC lathes to tight tolerances, and maintain quality. Successful candidates will read blueprints, interpret setup sheets, and perform tool changes, maintenance, and process improvements.

Qualifications

  • 4–5 years of precision CNC machining experience, aerospace/defense preferred.
  • Able to read blueprints, job orders and tooling instructions.
  • Strong CNC programming and setup/operating capability on lathes.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, adjust, and operate CNC lathes to produce precision parts.
  • Interpret setup sheets and blueprints for tooling, feeds, speeds, sequences.
  • Inspect parts with micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges for tolerance.
  • Perform routine maintenance and monitor tool wear; replace tools as needed.
  • Make offset adjustments to maintain quality and dimensions.
  • Edit CNC programs; sharpen tools as required and document results.
  • Meet production goals while upholding safety and quality.
  • Collaborate with team and support cross-training on machines.

Job description

Our client, an Aerospace manufacturer in Macomb County has immediate openings on both 1st and 2nd shifts for CNC Lathe Machinists, $28-32/hour, THESE ARE NOT CONTRACT ROLES, YOU WILL BE HIRED DIRECTLY BY THE COMPANY.

The experienced CNC Lathe Machinists will independently set up and operate CNC lathes to precise tolerances and specifications. This role requires a high level of technical skill, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.

You can expect to work an average of 50-55 hours/week, shift times are 5:30pm-5am and 6am-5:30pm, OT is paid DAILY after 8 hours!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up, adjust, and operate CNC lathes to produce parts of varying complexity.
  • Interpret computer-generated setup sheets and blueprints to determine proper tooling, fixtures, feeds, speeds, and machining sequences.
  • Use precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges) to inspect and verify part dimensions.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and monitor tool wear; replace tools and inserts as needed.
  • Make offset adjustments to maintain part quality and dimensional accuracy.
  • Edit and proofread CNC programs; sharpen tools as required.
  • Maintain high standards of quality while meeting production goals and deadlines.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Uphold company policies, safety standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, quality, and efficiency.
  • Cross-train on various machines and processes to support team flexibility.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 4-5years of experience in precision CNC machining, aerospace/defense or other industries which require extremely tight tolerances are strongly preferred.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, job orders, and tooling instructions.
  • Strong understanding of CNC programming and machining processes.
  • Demonstrated experience in full setup and operation of CNC lathes.
  • Familiarity with Fanuc Oi, Fanuc 21i, Haas, and Okuma controls is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed.
