Job summary

Aerotek in Flushing, MI is seeking a CNC Lathe Machinist for a contract role on first or second shift in a climate-controlled facility. You will set up and operate Haas lathes, read blueprints, adjust tools, and program or modify G-code to meet tight tolerances.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job Title: CNC Lathe Machinist

Join a reputable precision cutting tools manufacturer known for machining tool holders and holder inserts. This organization offers a stable working environment, providing tooling solutions for a diverse customer base, ensuring stability beyond the automotive industry's economic fluctuations. The facility is climate-controlled, clean, and well-maintained, equipped with Haas machining centers with Fanuc controls, 40 milling centers, and 20 lathe centers.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC Lathes to produce parts according to specifications.
• Read and interpret blueprints, job instructions, and machining specifications.
• Set up fixturing, cutting tools, and other equipment required for CNC milling operations.
• Select appropriate cutting tools and calculate feeds, speeds, and depths of cuts.
• Interpret and make adjustments to CNC G-code and related programming.
• Set and adjust work offsets, tool offsets, tool radius offsets, and other machine parameters.
• Monitor machining operations and make necessary adjustments to maintain part quality.
• Inspect completed parts using calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, bore gauges, tool setters, and other precision measuring equipment.

Essential Skills

• 3-4 years of recent CNC Lathe machining experience.
• Confidence in editing G Codes with Fanuc or similar CNC controls.
• Ability to understand CNC programs and make basic program or offset adjustments with the controller on the machine.
• Proficiency in reading and understanding blueprints, including GD&T with profile tolerancing.
• Ability to inspect parts and maintain required quality standards.
• Capability to perform mathematical calculations related to machining and tolerances.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in an Aerospace environment is a plus.
• Mastercam Programming is a plus.

Work Environment

The facility operates on two shifts: the 1st shift is from 6 am to 4 pm (Monday-Friday) with a half-day on Saturdays approximately once a month, and the 2nd shift is from 4 pm to 2 am (Monday-Friday) with a similar Saturday schedule. The work environment is air-conditioned, ensuring comfort during work hours. The dress code is professional, suitable for a precision machining environment.

This is a Contract position based out of Flushing, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $31.00/hr.
