Job summary

Aerotek in Orange, CA is seeking a CNC Lathe Set-Up Operator. The Lathe Machinist will set up CNC Lathe jobs for metal and plastic components with tight tolerances, take the program provided, create tooling layouts, and meet production set-up and run times.

This contract-to-hire, fully onsite role offers a 4x10 schedule with 1st or 2nd shift, and benefits after eligibility, including medical, dental, vision, a 401(k), and generous PTO.

Qualifications

• Set up lathe machines and meet set‑up/run times.
• Read engineering prints and sketches.
• Blueprint reading and inspection skills.
• Aerospace/Defence and commercial plastics/metals manufacturing experience.

Responsibilities

• Set up Lathe Machines with a minimum of 5 years' experience.
• Install tooling and set up unsupervised within the required set-up and run times for each operation.
• Change tools and edit programs for increased efficiency.
• Use appropriate measuring tools and equipment.
• Choose appropriate cutting tools, machine fixture clamps, and soft jaws.
• Read, interpret, and work from engineering prints, drawings, and sketches.
• Inspect and be responsible for the quality of your own work.

Job Title: Lathe Machinist Job Description

We are seeking a CNC Lathe Set-Up Operator to join our team! You will help oversee operational activities and ensure excellent quality control. The CNC Lathe Machinist is responsible for setting up jobs on the CNC Lathe for metal and plastic components with tight tolerances. The position requires the individual to be able to take the program provided, set up the machine, create tooling layouts, and meet production set-up and run times.

Responsibilities

• Set up Lathe Machines with a minimum of 5 years' experience.
• Install tooling and set up unsupervised within the required set-up and run times for each operation.
• Change tools and edit programs for increased efficiency.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 3+ years experience setting lathe machines.
• Comfortable with fast-paced environment and frequent changeovers.
• Ability to work effectively with minimal to no supervision.
• Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with CNC Swiss Lathe Machining.
• Blueprint reading and inspection skills.
• Manufacturing experience in Aerospace Defense and Commercial plastic and metal parts.

Work on a 4x10 schedule from Monday to Thursday, with every Friday off. Choose from 1st Shift (5:30 am to 4pm) or 2nd Shift (3:30pm to 1:30am). Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Orange, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $70000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
