You will work primarily with Doosan and Mori Seiki CNC lathes equipped with bar feeders, Fanuc controls, and live tooling, ensuring parts meet tight tolerances and customer specifications.

Responsibilities
  • Set up CNC lathes (Doosan and Mori Seiki) with bar feeders and single turret subspindles with live tooling for production runs.
  • Review and interpret engineering prints and blueprints to determine machining requirements, setups, tooling, and sequence of operations.
  • Perform full machine setups for job shop style work, typically handling orders of approximately 1050 parts.
  • Program at the machine using Fanuc controls, including live tooling operations and offline programming directly at the control.
  • Edit and adjust G and M codes to optimize cycle times, correct issues, and ensure accurate part production.
  • Run machines from setup through completion, monitoring operations and making necessary adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency.
  • Ensure tools are cutting correctly, perform tool changes as needed, and verify proper tool offsets and wear compensation.
  • Measure parts using precision instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to verify that dimensions meet specified tolerances, including .002 tolerances.
  • Perform in-process and final quality inspections and document results as required.
  • Adjust machine settings and offsets based on measurement results and blueprint requirements.
  • Use hand and power tools as needed to support machining operations and part finishing.
  • Assess existing programs, understand the code structure, and make appropriate edits or improvements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in a modern, state-of-the-art facility.
  • Collaborate with team members and leadership to support continuous improvement in methods and processes.
Essential Skills
  • At least 3+ years of experience performing full CNC lathe setups and basic programming, including live edits and understanding program code.
  • Proficiency setting up and operating CNC lathes with live tooling and subspindles.
  • Hands-on experience with Doosan and/or Mori Seiki CNC lathes.
  • Strong working knowledge of Fanuc controls, including programming and on-machine editing.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings accurately.
  • Experience working with tight tolerances, including .002 tolerances, and adjusting machines accordingly.
  • Capability to perform own quality inspection, including dimensional checks and verification of tolerances.
  • Ownership and proficient use of personal micrometers, calipers, and precision gauges.
  • Ability to edit and troubleshoot G and M code programs at the machine.
  • Skill in using precision measuring tools, hand tools, and power tools in a machining environment.
  • Understanding of CNC setup, including tooling selection, workholding, offsets, and verification runs.
  • Competence in assessing programs and understanding code flow to ensure correct operation.
  • Experience working in a job shop environment with small to medium lot sizes.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with full offline programming at the machine using Fanuc controls.
  • Familiarity with Mitsubishi controls.
  • Ability to set up and program CNC mills in addition to lathes.
  • Skillset in quality inspection practices within machining environments.
  • Experience working with various gauges and inspection tools to verify part conformance.
