Job summary

Phoenix Manufacturing Inc. is seeking a skilled CNC Lathe Machinist to join their aerospace component manufacturing team. You will operate CNC machines to produce high-quality flight-critical parts according to specifications. Qualifications

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in aerospace manufacturing.
  • Experience with AS9100 and ISO standards preferred.
  • Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) is a plus.

  • Set up, troubleshoot, and operate CNC Lathe Machines.
  • Inspect work for conformance to specifications.
  • Maintain a clean work environment per regulations.

A CNC Lathe Machinist will work according to blueprint specifications, selecting the appropriate fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials ensuring orders are completed in a timely manner with a quality first mindset. Essential Functions

  • Ability to set up, troubleshoot, and operate CNC Lathe Machines.
  • Inspect work completed on CNC Lathe Machines for conformance to specifications using bench gauging.
  • Strictly follow Standard Work in all aspects of work including CNC Lathe Machine setup and operation, process verification, product inspection, documentation, and material handling.
  • Perform light preventative maintenance tasks on CNC Lathe Machines to maintain machinery performance and prevent machine downtime.
  • Reports any safety violation, machining equipment misusage and/or improperly performed work to supervisor, may provide input for action including discipline.
  • Regular verbal or written communication to internal stakeholders utilizing both electronic and analog systems.
  • Ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment with Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Production Control. Maintains positive, team relationship with internal and external customers, as well as co-workers.
  • Participate in the operation of and compliance with all safety, hazardous material handling, and disposal requirements in accordance with government regulations and company procedures.
  • Maintain a clean work environment (including assigned storage and cleaning duties) in full compliance with all internal, customer and government regulations.
  • Use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (i.e., shoes, eyewear, gloves, masks, shields, and coats) if needed.
  • Comply with all company and safety rules and regulations.
  • Complete testing and adjustment of parts, as needed.
  • Identify and replace parts, as necessary.
  • Other tasks as required.

Requirements

Experience, Education and Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Education. Skilled Trade Certification, preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) or more years’ experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working in AS9100 and ISO environment.
  • Experience with Fanuc and/or CNC controls.
  • Experience using lean manufacturing principles and problem-solving methodology.
  • Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) a plus.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Excel) or related software
  • Excellent organizational skills (verbal and written) with an attention to detail and sense of urgency.
  • Understanding and ability to work within an ERP system (Global Shop).
  • Ability to adapt, prioritize, multi-task, and remain flexible to changes; responds with a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, internally and externally.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to type, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Ability to access all areas of the facility.

Work Environment

This job operates in a manufacturing environment. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. The pace is rapid and dynamic, multi-task oriented with short notice/changing deadlines. Accuracy and thoroughness/follow-through are very important. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
