Job summary

Cogent Talent Solutions is seeking an experienced Fabricator to lead the operation of CNC Press Brake and Laser Cutting equipment for our client in Baton Rouge, LA. You will produce high‑precision sheet metal components for custom-built machinery.

Responsibilities include reading blueprints, setting up machines, and maintaining tight tolerances with precision tools while safely handling heavy materials. This role offers a 4‑day work week and full benefits.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC press brakes and/or laser cutting machines in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of bend allowances, bend deductions, and precision measuring tools.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for 10-hour shifts, and perform repetitive physical tasks safely.

Responsibilities

• CNC Machine Operation — Set up and operate CNC laser cutters and press brakes to cut and form steel, aluminum, and stainless sheet metal to exact specifications.
• Blueprint Interpretation — Read and interpret mechanical blueprints, fabrication drawings, and flat patterns to determine machine setup, bend sequences, and part requirements.
• Quality Assurance — Inspect parts throughout production using calipers, protractors, tape measures, and other precision tools to maintain tight tolerances.
• Material Handling & Maintenance — Safely load and unload heavy sheet metal, perform basic daily machine maintenance, and maintain a clean, safe work area.

Position Overview
