Job summary

Intra Corporation is seeking an ID/OD Grinder in Michigan to set up, operate and tend grinding for aerospace parts using S33 Studer grinders and related equipment. You will work with precision to meet blueprints and tolerances.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and journeyman machining or 8 years experience; ability to read prints and use precision measuring tools; training provided and growth opportunities in a manufacturing environment in Westland, MI.

Job description

Position Summary

The ID/OD Grinder is responsible for setting-up, operating and tending grinding. Grinding applications will span aerospace grade cylindrical grinding production & specialized tool/spindle grinding. Primary equipment for the position is S33 Studer ID/OD grinder, Studer Favorit, and various other related equipment. Position offers an exciting environment with training and education advancement with United Grinding.

Primary Responsibilities

• Specializes in operating CNC and ID/OD grinders used in making or maintaining jigs, fixtures, gages and production aerospace parts.
• Planning and performing difficult grinding operations which require complicated setups or a high degree of accuracy.
• Determine proper feeds, speeds, tooling and operation sequence or select those prescribed in drawings, blueprints or layouts; using a variety of precision measuring instruments.
• Maintains a workable supply of perishable tools required in the operation of machinery, as well as supply charts of Q1 functions.
• All other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Requires extensive knowledge of machine shop practices usually acquired through extensive on the job training and experience.
• Journeyman (machining) or 8 years equivalent

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• High degree of mechanical aptitude and print reading skills
• Ability to work independently and to manage one’s time effectively
• Knowledge/experience with other machines (lathe, mill, CNC set up/programming, surface grind, jig grind) is not required but is beneficial.
• Understanding of individual contribution to the product conformity and product safety.
• The importance of ethical behavior.
