Job summary

Hyperion Materials & Technologies in Latrobe, PA is seeking a CNC Grinder Operator to set up, program, and operate grinding machines, producing parts to blueprint specifications and completing required documentation.

You will verify dimensions with micrometers and CMMs, select tooling, write G-Code (MasterCAM or similar), follow 8-step procedures, and support continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining a safe, organized work area.

Qualifications

• Ability to analyze specifications and select tooling for grinding.
• Able to study blueprints to plan operations.
• Knowledge of machining processes in carbide and ceramic industries.
• Strong safety awareness and ability to follow procedures.
• Effective verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Set up, program and operate CNC grinding machines according to procedures.
• Assist in pulling jobs through department and communicate status to leaders.
• Track parts per hour, quality and time remaining for each job.
• Provide setup and operation instructions to Operators and Trainees.
• Select tooling and fixturing based on grinding procedures and print specs.
• Write CNC programs using G-Code, MasterCAM or equivalents.
• Verify dimensions with micrometers, calipers and CMMs to spec.
• Follow 8-steps for every job and complete SPC charts as required.
• Keep work area clean and perform basic machine maintenance.
• Support continuous improvement and safe work practices.
