Job summary

MSC Industrial Supply Co. is seeking a CNC Cutter/Grinder in Chicopee, MA to regrind, recondition and manufacture cutting tools per instructions.

You will read blueprints and setup requirements, start and monitor machine operations, and adjust CNC programs to meet print specifications. Responsibilities include inspecting finished work with precision tools, returning tooling to proper locations, and maintaining a clean, safe work center while supporting MSC’s culture and goals.

Qualifications

• High School graduate with basic math skills.

• Ability to use test and measuring equipment and perform basic calculations.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
• Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjusts CNC program or machine set-up as required.
• Navigate CNC software and adjust the programs as needed, to grind tools within print specifications.
• Verify/inspects conformance of finished work piece to specifications using precision measurement instrumentation.
• Return tooling to proper location upon completion of work.

BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY

The role of CNC Cutter/Grinder is to regrind, recondition and/or manufacture cutting tools per instructions.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Displays or possesses the ability to read blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
• Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjusts CNC program or machine set-up as required.
• Ability to navigate CNC software and adjust the programs as needed, to grind tools within print specifications.
• Verifies/inspects conformance of finished work piece to specifications using precision measurement instrumentation.
• Returns tooling to proper location upon completion of work.
• Sets up machine and ensure proper safety guarding is in place, before starting work instructions.
• Fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure fulfillment of MSC’s vision and unity of purpose.
• Participation in special projects and performs additional duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to use test and measuring equipment and perform basic mathematical calculations as well as setup and operate various machine tools is required.

SAFETY HAZARDS OF THE JOB

Compensation starting at $21.57Hr - $29.85Hr depending on candidate location and experience.
