Job summary

Marshall Healthcare Facility in Maine seeks a dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant to join our clinical team. The role includes assisting residents with daily living activities, mobility, meals, and personal care, while maintaining patient comfort and safety.

As part of a weekend warrior program, new CNAs may commit to 26 consecutive weekends with a premium differential, and we offer comprehensive benefits, tuition reimbursement, and a pathway to grow within our nursing team.

Qualifications

  • Must graduate from a state-approved CNA program and be listed on the Maine CNA Registry.
  • Able to work scheduled shifts and be there for the team and Residents.
  • Experience with a computer-based EMR is required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with activities of daily living including meals, feeding, mobility and hygiene.
  • Shower/bathe, dress, groom, toilet, and support mobility and comfort.
  • Monitor vitals and report observations to the nursing supervisor.
  • Transport patients, respond to calls, and document actions and care provided.
  • Follow policies to protect patient information and maintain confidentiality.
  • Adhere to hospital and professional standards and participate in ongoing education.

Marshall Healthcare Facility is a 64 bed skilled and long term care facility located in the beautiful coastal town of Machias, Maine. Our employees are among the most loyal and dedicated, some having worked here over 25 years. Marshall is Music & Memory certified and is a 5-STARfacility.

An every weekend scheduling option to CNAs newly hired in the Nursing department on a limited basis. Employees must make a commitment to enroll in the program for twenty-six (26) consecutive weekends (six months). During this period, the employee will be scheduled to work a minimum of three (3) twelve (12) hour or two(2) sixteen (16) hour shifts per weekend.

For the purpose of defining this program, the “weekend” begins on Friday at 6:30am and ends on Monday evening at 7:00pm.

  • A premium differential of $3.00 per hour will be paid for hours actually worked within the defined weekend time. This premium is in addition to any and all weekend differentials.

A Certified Nursing Assistant’s Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides for activities of daily living by assisting with serving meals, feeding patients as necessary and ambulating, turning, and positioning patients; and providing fresh water and nourishment between meals.
  • Assistance with showering/bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility.
  • Maintains patient stability by checking vital signs.
  • Provides patient comfort by utilizing resources and materials; transporting patients; answering patients’ call lights and requests; and reporting observations of the patient to nursing supervisor.
  • Documents actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
  • Maintains work operations by following policies and procedures.
  • Protects organization’s value by keeping patient information confidential.
  • Serves and protect the hospital community by adhering to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures; federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, participating in professional organizations, and maintaining licensure.
  • Enhances nursing department and hospital reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

CNA Skills and Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
  • Knowledge of relevant nursing care
  • Friendly and professional bedside manner
  • Maintains current CPR certification
  • Multi-tasking skills
  • Effective oral, written, and reading communication skills
  • Understands legal implications of patient care

CNA Requirements:

  • Must be a graduate of a state-approved Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program and on the Maine CNA Registry.
  • Able to work scheduled shifts, committing to being there for your team and Residents.
  • Must be able interact our computer-based Electronic Medical Record system.
