Job summary

Sanford Health, the nation’s largest rural health system, is offering a Nursing Assistant Trainee position at Good Samaritan Westbrook in Minnesota. Trainees support the care team under a licensed nurse, developing skills to provide person-centered care.

Training is paid, with CNA certification anticipated after program completion. Shifts include Evening, with 16 hours per week and opportunities for further hire as a CNA after licensure.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED preferred, but not required.
• Minimum age of 16.
• Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
• CNA license required within four months of employment.
• When applicable, certified and registered with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry.
• Dependent on facility, this role may classify as a Sanford Category II Driver requiring a motor vehicle report and valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Provide holistic client-centered care under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
• Assist with activities of daily living such as bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing, and undressing.
• Assist with transferring, positioning, range-of-motion exercises, and walking using proper techniques.
• Assist clients with meals and hydration; provide water and nutritional supplements as appropriate.
• Document client care when appropriate and communicate changes in client condition to a licensed nurse.
• Maintain infection prevention, PPE use, safety and privacy per location standards.
