Job summary

Riverside Health System seeks a Nursing Assistant to support patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Responsibilities include vital signs, EKGs, basic wound care, and phlebotomy within competency, with documentation in the EMR.

Eligible candidates may hold a CNA, EMT-B, or MA program completion, or be enrolled in a nursing diploma with 80 hours. A 12-hour shift pattern is noted, and 16.80–21.83 USD hourly pay is offered.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required (Preferred).
• Must meet one of CNA/EMT-B/MA track or be enrolled in a nursing program with 80 hours completed.
• BLS certification required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient care under RN supervision.
• Perform basic procedures such as vital signs, EKGs, simple wound care, and phlebotomy as competency allows.
• Maintain accurate clinical and quality documentation in EMR per RHS standards.

Gloucester, VirginiaHiring Range$16.80 - $21.83/Hourly Actual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs.12 hour shifts*Please note you must meet one of the following criteria to be eligible: hold a CNA / hold an EMT-B license / completed an MA program / Currently enrolled in a Nursing Program with at least 80+ hours of clinical completed.OverviewWorks under the supervision of Registered Nurse, Nurse Manager/Director in personal care of the patients and their environment (including those needing special precautions) and performs specified functions in tasks where there is validated competency including: simple wound care (i.e. cleaning of abrasions/laceration), EKGs, peripheral INT removal, basic phlebotomy, and extremity splinting. In addition, this position must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served in assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and provide the care needed as described according to the departmental policy and procedure. Promotes and maintains safe work environment for staff as well as our customers, incorporating national patient safety initiatives.What you will doDemonstrates understanding and knowledge of the technology systems necessary for patient data collection into EMR.Demonstrates the ability to follow plan of care to include performing treatments and procedures competently/independently under direction of RN. This may include the following procedures dependent upon unit/facility competency requirements vital signs, ice application, compresses, EKGs, drawing blood, specimen collection, etc.Accurately completes all required clinical and quality documentation consistently per RHS standards and regulatory requirements.Demonstrates accountability for ensuring availability of resources (equipment, instruments, supplies) necessary to ensure positive patient outcomes.
