Job summary

MedStar Health’s Washington Hospital Center seeks a Certified Nursing Assistant to join the patient-centered care team. You will provide direct patient care under RN supervision, assist with ADLs, collect specimens, obtain EKGs, and document in the health record.

You may perform various duties across units as needed to support patient care. Responsibilities include assisting with hygiene, mobility, feeding, safety, and transporting patients, while maintaining dignity and privacy.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an approved CNA certification program required.
• One year of relevant education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
• CPR certification within 90 days required.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) and personal hygiene.
• Collect specimens (blood, urine, sputum, stool) and obtain EKGs.
• Monitor and document patient intake and output, vital signs, height/weight, and other data.
• Assist with routine treatments, wound care, transfer and mobility, and postmortem care as needed.
• Maintain patient comfort, safety, and privacy during care and procedures.
• Assist with patient rounds, handoffs, and notify nurses of changes in condition.
• Escort patients for discharge, transfers, or appointments; support environmental services as needed.
