Job summary

MercyOne Newton Medical Center seeks a Patient Care Tech/CNA for the Med Surg Unit. You will be supervised by the staff nurse and assist patients with daily living activities while delivering basic nursing care in a safe, clean environment.

The role involves 12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM) and responsibilities including patient admission/discharge support, vitals collection, and ensuring patient safety.

Qualifications

• Completion of a 75-hour, 120-hour or 150-hour Certified Nursing Assistant Program and must be on State CNA Registry.
• Must be 16 years old.
• Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter - Child and/or Dependent Adult Abuse training within three months of hire.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certified within six weeks of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides/assists with personal care and activities of daily living.
• Assists with admission, discharge and transfer of patients to and from the unit.
• Measures and records heights, weights, intakes and outputs, and appetites as directed.
• Obtains vitals and blood glucose readings as directed.
• Maintains an awareness of personal and patient safety when performing all duties.
