Job summary

MercyOne Newton Medical Center in Newton, IA, is hiring a Patient Care Tech/CNA for the Med Surg Unit to assist patients with daily living activities under the supervision of a registered nurse.

The role requires completing a CNA program (75/120/150 hours), active CNA registry, being at least 16, and obtaining BLS within six weeks of hire; you will measure vitals, assist with admissions and transfers, and maintain a safe, clean environment.

Qualifications

• Completion of a 75/120/150-hour Certified Nursing Assistant Program and active on the State CNA Registry.
• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Within three months of hire, complete Mandatory Reporter training.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers certified within six weeks of hire.

Responsibilities

• Measure and record heights, weights, intakes and outputs, and appetites as directed.

General Requirements

• Obtains vitals and blood glucose readings as directed.

Education

• Completion of 75-hour, 120-hour or 150-hour Certified Nursing Assistant Program and must be on State C.N.A. Registry.
• Must be 16 years old
• Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter – Child and/or Dependent Adult Abuse training within three (3) months of hire.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certified within six (6) weeks of hire.
