Job summary

thinkaksarben is seeking a Clinical Support Staff member to assist with patient care under a health care provider’s supervision and help manage patient throughput.

The role requires CNA and Medication Aide certifications with at least one year of experience and familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR). Expect interaction with the health care team, adherence to infection control, and efficient patient flow.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient care with health care team, including preparing patients for examination or treatment and gathering information.
• Take vital signs, height, weight, and screening procedures; document in EMR.
• Assist with specimen collection and labeling; route according to clinic protocol.
• Adhere to infection control standards, PPE use, isolation, and equipment disinfection/sterilization.
• Assist with special procedures following infection control and universal protocol; verify patient ID.
• Maintain orderly examination rooms; stock supplies and check logs and equipment (refrigerator logs).
• Communicate with patients in person and by phone to gather data.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Clinical Support Staff position is responsible for supporting patients care under the direct supervision of a health care provider, along with helping the management of patient throughput.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Work with members of the health care team to coordinate patient care services, including preparation of patients for examination or treatment, gathering of information such as reason for visit, vital signs, and related patient information. Ensure accurate documentation is maintained, relay instructions to patients, and help ensure timely patient flow.
• Perform vital signs, height, weight, and screening procedures. Document findings in the electronic medical record.
• Collect and/or assist providers in collection of specimens, as required, using appropriate protocols. Complete requisitions, label and route specimens according to clinic protocol.
• Adhere to infection control standards including, but not limited to, hand hygiene, use of PPE, isolation of patient with known infectious disease, and equipment disinfection/sterilization.
• Assist with special procedures and examinations following appropriate protocols such as infection control, universal protocol, and patient identification.
• Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of examination rooms; stock assigned rooms/cupboards and ensure par levels of supplies are maintained. Check and complete required logs and equipment including refrigerator logs.
• Assist with communication to patients, both in person and via phone, to gather data.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Knowledge of HIPAA privacy rules.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma required. Active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Medication Aide. A minimum of one (1) year of experience as a CNA and Medication Aide, experienced utilization of Electronic Health Records (EHR), and experience in a clinical setting preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

• This role operates in a healthcare setting. This position requires frequent standing, walking, and computer work. This position allows employee to moderately vary physical position or activity for comfort.
• Must be able to:
  • Stand 75% or longer of workday.
  • Walk 15% or longer of workday.
  • Sit 10% of an workday.
• Requires ability to lift and maneuver up to 35 pounds occasionally.
• Requires employee to: bend, squat, kneel, and reach above shoulder level occasionally and twist occasionally.
