Job summary

Fair Oaks is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to provide hands-on personal care, safety, mobility assistance, and nutrition support for residents in a care setting. You will collect vital signs, document findings, and support individuals with chronic medical and psychiatric conditions under licensed-nurse direction.

The role emphasizes dignity, recovery, and resident rights while promoting a safe, home-like environment. Training and ongoing education are required to maintain certification.

Qualifications

• Active and unrestricted California CNA certificate issued by CDPH.
• Current BLS/CPR certification.
• Health screening, TB clearance, background check, and facility clearances as required.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand information necessary for safe care and documentation.
• Orientation, annual training, continuing education, and competency validation.
• Prompt disclosure of certificate lapse or other conditions affecting eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on personal care, comfort, safety, mobility assistance, nutrition and hydration support.
• Collect vital signs and intake/output data; document accurately.
• Support residents with chronic conditions and psychiatric diagnoses; promote dignity and independence.
• Report changes to licensed nurses and follow CNA duties under supervision.
• Assist with admission, transfer and discharge processes and infection prevention.

Job description

The Certified Nursing Assistant provides hands-on personal care, comfort, safety, mobility assistance, nutrition and hydration support, vital-sign and intake/output data collection, behavioral-health observation, structured activity support, and objective documentation for residents in a medical-primary, psychiatric-secondary congregate living environment.

The CNA supports residents with chronic medical conditions and co-occurring psychiatric diagnoses while promoting dignity, independence, recovery, resident rights, and a safe home-like environment. When assigned and trained, the CNA may function in a support, Mental Health Worker, or Activities role. The CNA remains accountable for reporting resident changes and completing assigned CNA responsibilities under licensed-nurse direction.

Minimum Qualifications

• Active and unrestricted California Certified Nurse Assistant certificate issued by the California Department of Public Health.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred unless otherwise permitted by law and company policy.
• Current Basic Life Support or CPR certification appropriate to the assignment.
• Required health screening, tuberculosis clearance, criminal-record clearance, and any facility-specific employment clearances.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand information necessary for safe care, documentation, emergency response, and communication.
• Completion of required orientation, annual training, continuing education, and competency validation.
• Prompt disclosure of certificate lapse, restriction, suspension, revocation, investigation, exclusion, criminal matter, or other condition that may affect eligibility to work.
