Job summary

Amedisys is seeking a hospice aide to provide compassionate in-home care for patients in the Altoona, PA area. You will perform personal care, light homemaking, and meal support while following the plan of care outlined by a nurse.

Applicants must hold a PA CNA license and CPR certification, with CNA experience in the last two years preferred. Amedisys offers competitive pay, benefits, and opportunities for growth in home health services.

Qualifications

• Current state certification as a nurse aide per state requirements.
• CNA experience within the last two years.
• Current CPR certification.
• Valid driver's license, reliable transportation and liability insurance.

Responsibilities

• Provides personal care services to patients.
• Applies safety principles and proper body mechanics to personal care and mobility tasks.
• Plans and prepares nutritious meals and assists with feeding.
• Performs homemaking and other environmental services as assigned.
• Observes, reports, and documents changes in patient status to the nurse.
• Follows written care instructions prepared by a registered nurse.
• Assists patients with prescribed exercises as instructed.
• Performs simple urine tests for sugar, acetone, and albumin as directed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Provides personal care services to patients.



• Applies safety principles and proper body mechanics to the performance of specific techniques of personal and supportive care such as ambulation of clients, transferring clients, assisting with the normal range of motion and positioning, and doing household chores.


• Plans and prepares nutritious meals, assists with feeding, as assigned.


• Performs homemaking and other environmental services as assigned.


• Observes, reports, and documents any changes in patient's status. If unable to perform a certain task, report to the primary nurse.


• Follow specific written instructions for personal care prepared by a registered nurse in accordance with the plan of care. Written instructions are to be received prior to the delivery of services.


• Assists patients with prescribed exercises as instructed by nurse or therapist.


• Performs and records simple urine tests for sugar, acetone, and albumin.


• Other duties as assigned.

• Current state certification (or registration) as a nurse assistant as per state certification/registration requirements.


• CNA experience within the last two years.
