Job summary

Novant Health's Thomasville Medical Center is seeking a Nursing Assistant I to join the Emergency Department team. This full-time 36-hour week role provides patient care, assists with activities of daily living, maintains a safe, clean environment, and supports the registered nurse under supervision.

The ideal candidate has a HS diploma or GED, completes NAI program, is listed as NA I, and has basic computer skills. Previous long-term care or assisted living experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED, required.
• One year of experience preferred.
• Completion of NAI program, required.
• Listed with the nurse aide registry as an NA I, required.
• Medication Safety - AME, required.
• NC state approved curricula for restrictive interventions within 3 months of hire (ED & Behavioral Health).

Responsibilities

• Provides and documents assistance to patients with activities of daily living and maintenance of a safe and clean environment under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse.
• Assisted Living units only: Responsible for assisting residents with activities of daily living as scheduled and reporting any change in status to the Charge Nurse.

Our Emergency Department is a 26 bed unit that specializes in providing immediate medical care for patients with server or urgent illnesses or injuries. It is equipped to handle a wide range of services, including initial assessment, treatment, stabilization, emergencies, from minor injuries to life‑threatening conditions and potentially admission to the hospital.

What We’re Looking For

• Education: High School Diploma or GED, required.
• Experience:
  • One year preferred.
  • One year Assisted Living facilities only: experience working in long-term care or assisted living, required.
• Licensure/Certification:
  • Completion of NAI program, required.
  • Listed with the nurse aide registry as an NA I, required.
  • Medication Safety - AME, required.
  • NC state approved curricula for restrictive interventions (facility specific) within 3 months of hire for Emergency Departments and Behavioral Health units, required.
• Additional Skills (preferred): Basic computer skills for documentation.
