Job summary

The Shirley Ryan AbilityLab in Chicago is seeking a Patient Care Technician to provide basic daily patient care and support to families. You will assist with hygiene, mobility, intake and output, vital signs and routine nursing tasks under the direction of a registered nurse.

You will work in a fast-paced clinical setting, maintain clean patient areas, monitor patient condition, document care in the nursing database, and collaborate with the care team to ensure safety and comfort for all

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• CNA certification or current enrollment in an accredited nursing program is required.
• Ability to communicate effectively in verbal, non-verbal and written form.
• Willingness to adapt to changing work demands and environment.

Responsibilities

• Performs activities in the treatment and care of patients, including routine hygiene, ingestion of food and fluids, elimination, mobilization, and dressing/undressing.
• Records routine clinical data, vital signs, intake/output and other nursing tasks as directed.
• Performs patient transfer, positioning and assistive care within lifting limits (up to 35 lbs).
• Maintains safe, clean patient care areas and documents care in the nursing database.
• Collaborates with the registered nurse to implement the plan of care and ensure patient safety and comfort.
