Job summary

Shirley Ryan AbilityLab is seeking a Patient Care Technician to provide basic daily care including hygiene, feeding, mobility and safety. You will collect vital signs, assist with routine nursing tasks and document observations to support individualized patient care plans.

The role requires CNA certification or current enrollment in a nursing program, adherence to orientation, and a commitment to compassionate, patient-centered service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• CNA Certification or current enrollment in an accredited nursing program required.
• Work requires successful completion of the Patient Care Technician orientation.
• Demonstrates competency in applying growth and development of infant, child, adolescent, young adult, middle-aged adult and geriatric patients.
• Communicates effectively using timely verbal, non-verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Performs activities in patient care including routine hygiene, feeding, elimination, mobility and dressing.
• Collects and records routine data such as vital signs, intake/output, and glucose.
• Orients patient and family to environment and safety hazards.
• Transfers patients and equipment as directed.
• Documents care and maintains nursing database.
