Job summary

Masonicare Bishop Wicke in Shelton, CT, seeks a CNA for day shift responsibilities under licensed nurse supervision. You will provide basic nursing care, assist with meals, transfers, hygiene and activities as part of a care team.

Qualifications include a High School diploma or GED and CT CNA certification (or within 120 days). Previous CNA experience preferred and English communication skills required.

• Performs basic nursing care procedures under the direction and supervision of a licensed nurse. Follow treatment plan that was designed to meet the appropriate age, needs and abilities of each resident/patient including assisting with meals and nourishment's, transferring using proper body mechanics and appropriate assistive devices, ambulation, bathing, toileting and dressing and grooming.
• Observes and communicates pertinent information about the adult/older adult resident/patient’s condition to the appropriate facility staff.
• Takes and records pulse, respirations, blood pressures and weight as needed.
• Documents care and observations on work sheets and EMR accurately and in a timely manner.
• Maintains cooperative relationships to enhance the efficient operation of the care team by providing support and assistance to co-workers.
• Adheres to infection control practices.
• Supports the psychosocial needs of the residents as per the plan of care and profile.
• Participates in educational and inservice meeting to update knowledge of techniques, guidelines and regulations. Must attend all mandatory programs. Meets basic requirement for 12 hours of continuing education per year.
• Uses equipment in an appropriate and safe manner. Adheres to standards of the Diligent Minimal Lift Program.
