Job summary

Suffield House Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Suffield, CT is seeking CNAs for full-time or part-time roles. We offer up to $23.25 per hour, with a $0.50 shift differential for 2nd and 3rd shifts and $2.00 extra for weekend hours.

CNAs provide resident care under nursing supervision, assist with daily living activities, document care, and help maintain a safe, clean environment. Education includes CT CNA certification and registry; prior experience is welcome but not required.

Qualifications

  • C.N.A. certification evidenced by completion of Nurse’s Aide Training Program approved in accordance with the State of Connecticut Public Health Code and a passing score on the CT Nurse’s Aide Certification Exam.
  • Clean ASI registry check.
  • Previous CNA experience desirable, but not essential.
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend English; ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Observes residents and reports any unusual condition, accident, or incident to nurse.
  • Assists in any accident and incident investigations.
  • Participates in informal/formal resident care meetings as requested by charge nurse and/or Supervisor.
  • Performs duties as instructed by written assignment including activities of daily living – grooming, hygiene, transferring, ambulation, and transportation.
  • Assists with serving meals, feeding residents and meal documentation.
  • Maintains orderly resident rooms and ensures call cords are accessible.
  • Makes rounds on assigned residents at the beginning and throughout the shift.
  • Cares for clean and soiled linen.
  • Follows health, sanitary and infection control policies and maintains standards of practice.
  • Assists in orientation/training of new CNAs.
  • Attends CNA meetings held by DNS/ADNS.
  • Operates and maintains equipment safely and reports malfunctions.
  • Performs other related duties as deemed necessary.

Up to $23.25 per hour

Job Type:Full Time

Suffield House Rehabilitation and Health Care Center is a 128-bed skilled nursing center that is seeking full and part-time CNA talent for the following schedules: Full Time, 32 hours, Part Time, 16-24 hours and Per Diem on all shifts, with preference for 1st shift!

Shift differential of $0.50 per hour is added for 2nd & 3rd shift worked hours; $2.00 per hour is added for worked weekend hours.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education / Experience

  • Ability to work hours as scheduled based on the requirements of the position assignment.
  • Must be able to cope with the mental, emotional, and physical stress of the position.
  • Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people within the facility
Working Conditions

Works in an appropriately lighted and ventilated environment. Is exposed to blood/body fluids.

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the day, proper body mechanics required - bending, stooping, turning, stretching, and reaching above the shoulders are involved.
  • Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics/equipment that will enable these senses to function adequately to assure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. Mechanical devices are provided and are required to assist in proper lifting techniques.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  4. 4. Performs duties as instructed by written assignment which includes resident care to be provided i.e., activities of daily living – grooming and hygiene, transferring, ambulation, and proper body alignment, transporting to activities and scheduled appointments.
  5. 5. Assists with serving meals, feeding residents and meal documentation.
  6. 6. Maintains orderly resident rooms and assures that the call cords are safely accessible for residents.
  7. 7. Makes rounds on assigned residents at the beginning and throughout the shift.
  8. 8. Cares for clean and soiled linen.
  9. 9. Follows all health, sanitary and infection control policies and maintains established standards of practice set forth by the facility's administration and Nursing policies and procedures.
  10. 10. Assists in the orientation of training of new certified nursing assistants within the facility as necessary.
  11. 11. Attends CNA meetings held by DNS/ADNS.
  12. 12. Operates and maintains equipment in a safe manner. Reports any malfunctions or equipment failures in a timely manner.
  13. 13. Performs other related duties and attends meetings as may be deemed necessary by Supervisor / Administrator and or Director.
