Job Title: CNA Associate (Part-time) Instructor Pool 2024 - 2025

Assignment Category: Temporary Assignment

The college is accepting applications to build a pool of instructors for possible future part-time assignments teaching NURS 160 – Certified Nursing Assistant (lecture and/or clinical). The department chairperson or designee will review applications only if vacancies become available.

NURS 160 – Certified Nursing Assistant: This course covers basic nursing skills, including fundamentals of nursing, nutrition, gerontology, and home nursing. Upon successful completion of the course, students may seek employment in long-term and skilled nursing facilities, acute care, and in-home care.

Instructors may be assigned to any campus or authorized facility (e.g., local skilled nursing facilities). Assignments may include days, evenings, or weekends.

Applications are valid through June 30, 2025, at which time they will expire. A new posting for this pool will be posted on July 1, 2025 and those still interested will need to reapply at that time.

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT:

MiraCosta College Board Policy 7800: Employee Residency requires all associate faculty employees to maintain and permanently reside in a principal place of residence in the state of California that is within two-hundred (200) road miles from the employee’s regularly assigned district worksite.

The District may consider an individual request to temporarily reside outside of the State of California or outside the 200-mile limit on a case-by-case basis, not to exceed twelve consecutive months.

Minimum Qualifications:

The transcripts you are attaching to provide evidence that you meet the minimum qualifications below must state the degree title, major, and date awarded.

  1. a current California LVN or RN license;
  2. any bachelor’s degree (or higher) AND two (2) years of professional experience as a LVN or RN in practice and/or in teaching (either full time or equivalent part time); OR any associate degree AND six (6) years of professional experience as a LVN or RN in practice and/or in teaching (either full time or equivalent part time);
  3. At least one (1) year of nursing experience (as a LVN or RN in practice) providing care and services to chronically ill or elderly patients in an acute care hospital, skilled nursing facility, intermediate care facility, home care, hospice care, or other long-term care setting;
  4. Either 4a or 4b below:
    1. at least one (1) year of experience planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs in nursing;
    2. Twenty-four (24) hours of continuing education in planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs in nursing completed within six (6) months of employment and prior to teaching a certification program.

Responsibilities:

Under direction, plan, organize and teach assigned courses in an instructional field or discipline in accordance with approved course outlines; provide feedback and guidance to students and evaluate student performance; and perform related duties as assigned.

The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed:

  1. Plan, organize and develop instructional materials including presentations, lectures, demonstrations, homework assignments, laboratory exercises and project assignments consistent with approved course outlines;
  2. Provide prompt feedback on student assignments; evaluate student performance fairly and consistently;
  3. Be available to students by telephone, email, course learning management system, or personal conference;
  4. Maintain accurate and complete course records as required by law, regulations and district policies and procedures;
  5. Maintain the confidentiality of student information;
  6. Contribute to maintaining a collegial environment and collaborate with department chairs and other faculty;
  7. Play an active role in campus life; attend faculty and staff meetings;
  8. Meet professional responsibilities in accordance with contractual obligations.

Compensation: $87.60 to $101.54 per hour.
