Responsibilities

The Hospice Aide, under the supervision of a registered nurse, provides direct patient care services according to the Plan of Care.

Reports on patient condition or environment to the Executive Director or designee after each patient encounter, following the Care Management process as needed.

Assists with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as mobility, transfers, walking, grooming, bathing, dressing, undressing, eating, and toileting during each visit.

Performs incidental household services essential for the patient's health at home, helping to prevent or delay institutionalization.

Participates in the Quality Assessment & Performance Improvement (QAPI) plan, reporting issues to the administrator as needed.

Must have reliable transportation.

Education and Experience

License Requirements

• Successful completion of a competency evaluation prior to providing patient care.
• Current CPR certification.
• Valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and access to dependable transportation.

Additional State-Specific Requirements

• In Arkansas: At least one year of experience in an institutional setting, or a certificate issued by the state for working in long-term care, or completion of a 40-hour aide training course meeting state requirements. Nursing students may qualify with appropriate documentation.

Skill Requirements

• Ability to handle the demands of a hospice aide position maturely.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, and following directions accurately.
