Job summary

The Nevada Department of Corrections seeks a Certified Nursing Assistant 2 for High Desert State Prison. The CNA2 works under a Correctional Nurse 2, supporting basic health assessments and recording data on flow sheets and treatment sheets to monitor patient status.

They perform basic nursing/restorative services, assist with ADLs, observe health changes, communicate needs to staff, and help ensure safety and infection control in a correctional health setting.

Qualifications

• Certification as a CNA by the Nevada State Board of Nursing is required.
• Six months of experience as a CNA or Nursing Assistant Trainee in Nevada State service or part of a CNA training program preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) including toileting, bathing, dressing, oral care, eating, ambulating, and positioning.
• Contribute to basic health status assessments and record data on flow sheets and treatment sheets.
• Observe residents/patients for changes in health status and report updates to licensed staff.
• Provide basic nursing/restorative services and execute care plans under supervision.
• Maintain safety, infection control, and patient rights within the care setting.
• Perform CPR when necessary and assist with noninvasive procedures as directed.
