CNA 1st shift 7a-3p with alternating weekends - Full time

POSITION SUMMARY:

The CNA/caregiver provides medical and physical care to the residents of the household to meet their daily needs and enable them to function at the highest possible level. Under the leadership of a professional nurse, the caregiver is the residents’ closest advocate, promoting psychosocial well-being through relationship building, and working with the household team to meet social service needs. The caregiver also plans and facilitates social activities, supports household maintenance, and performs tasks in accordance with standards and regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Attend to all resident personal hygiene and care needs, including grooming, hygiene, dining, mobility, elimination, psychosocial, and safety needs. Support residents in self-care and assist those unable to care for themselves, following infection control and safety standards.
  • Provide restorative therapy under the guidance of therapy professionals, following the resident’s maintenance plan.
  • Observe residents for changing needs and report immediately to nursing.
  • Participate in the resident’s care plan, advocating for their preferences.
  • Work collaboratively with household team members to meet resident needs and desires.
  • Seek opportunities to meet psychosocial needs through planned and spontaneous actions.
  • Plan and organize social activities for residents and the household.
  • Facilitate spontaneous activities of resident choice and accompany residents in activities.
  • Maintain equipment, games, and supplies supporting activities.
  • Document social service and activity functions appropriately.
  • Maintain cleanliness of resident rooms, common spaces, and support areas.
  • Ensure supplies meet resident needs.
  • Support household environment, including pets, plants, children, visitors, and guests.
  • Coordinate with the homemaker to meet residents’ laundry needs.
  • Perform other duties as required, consistent with the position.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Graduate of a state-approved nursing assistant program; competency tested and registered with the state.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility, with dementia experience preferred.
