Job summary

Certerra RMA Group in Hollywood, FL is seeking Construction Materials Testing Technicians to perform field inspections and observations on commercial, industrial and transportation construction projects.

You will interpret plans, perform soil density testing, sampling and testing of concrete, and prepare digital field reports. The role emphasizes safety, reliability, and collaboration with client representatives to meet project specifications.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year experience in a construction/project site role.
• Reliability – must be able to arrive at designated project sites prior to scheduled times.
• Ability to prepare reports and documentation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Outlook, Teams).
• Flexibility to work outside normal business hours as required, including at least every other Saturday.
• Must pass physical, background check, and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy.

Responsibilities

• Perform testing on general industrial, residential and commercial construction sites and facilities.
• Interpret project plans and specifications for compliance with projects requirements.
• Perform soil density testing using density gauges in accordance with ASTM and project specifications on site at.
• Perform sampling and testing of concrete in accordance with ASTM and project specifications.
• Prepare and submit digitally written field reports summarizing daily activities/observations, calculations and results.
• Observe proof rolls, undercut operations, perform footing inspections, and inspect rebar.
• Test and work in accordance with Company safety policies.
• Monitor work procedures for compliance with project specifications.
• Interact with client representative (supervisors, foremen, project managers, engineers, etc.) at project sites.
• Perform analysis or calculations to check accuracy, applicability and reasonableness of testing data.

Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

• 1 year+ Construction Materials Testing experience either on commercial projects or on transportation construction projects
• ACI Field Level I certification (concrete sampling and field testing)
• Ability to evaluate soil subgrade prior to placement of fill and perform standard soil Proctor
• Ability to read and understand site grading drawings

Physical Demands

• Physical examination required to obtain medical clearance to work
• Ability to stoop, kneel and to routinely lift and carry 50 pounds
• Clean driving record and capable of being insured for driving company vehicles
• Able to work in variable outside conditions, including extreme heat, 8-12 hours.
