Job summary

SOCOTEC, Inc. seeks a Laboratory Technician to perform testing of soils, concrete, aggregates, and asphalt materials in support of construction materials projects. You will conduct laboratory tests, maintain records, and ensure compliance with ASTM/AASHTO and project requirements.

Responsibilities include Proctor, sieve analysis, Atterberg Limits, Marshall/Gyratory testing, sample preparation, data reporting, and maintaining quality control documentation while adhering to safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Six months to 2 years' experience performing laboratory testing of soils, aggregates, concrete, and/or asphalt materials preferred.
• Knowledge of ASTM, AASHTO, and industry-standard laboratory testing procedures.
• ATTI/ASTM/AASHTO Soils and Aggregate certification preferred.
• Training may be provided for qualified candidates with relevant experience and aptitude.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing of soils, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt in accordance with ASTM, AASHTO, and company procedures.
• Conduct testing including Proctor compaction, sieve analysis, Atterberg Limits, sand equivalent, uncompacted voids, compression testing, and other standard laboratory procedures.
• Perform asphalt testing including ignition oven, Marshall/Gyratory, maximum theoretical density (Rice), and related testing methods.
• Receive, sample, split, process, and prepare materials for testing.
• Accurately record, calculate, and report test results.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, testing areas, and quality control documentation.
• Ensure testing is performed in accordance with applicable standards, safety requirements, and laboratory procedures.
• Assist with laboratory operations and other duties as assigned.

• Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds on a regular basis as part of daily laboratory operations.
