Job summary

Atlas is seeking a Part-Time CMT Lab Technician to support construction materials testing and quality control in our Beaumont, Texas laboratory. This role involves testing soils, concrete, asphalt and other materials, plus sample collection, transport, and documenting results.

Travel to Southeast Texas sites is required to support field personnel. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or with a team.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Construction experience preferred.
  • TXDOT and/or ACI certifications are a plus.
  • Willingness to learn, work flexible shifts as needed, and adapt to changing project demands.
  • Safety-oriented with a strong commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Team player with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative setting.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and other basic computer applications.
  • Ability to learn and utilize industry-specific systems, including TXDOT Site Manager and APCM.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work effectively under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Perform construction-related laboratory testing as directed by the Laboratory Manager.
  • Travel to construction sites throughout the Southeast Texas area to pick up and deliver material samples.
  • Transport equipment, test specimens, and documentation to field personnel and other office locations.
  • Provide physical assistance with equipment setup and preparation for field and laboratory testing activities.
  • Enter daily laboratory reports and summary reports electronically with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Perform laboratory quality control testing of in-place concrete.
  • Conduct laboratory testing of soils, concrete, asphalt, and other construction materials.
  • Assist technicians and professional staff with testing, documentation, and project-related tasks.
  • Provide support to other departments as needed to meet operational requirements.
  • Follow Atlas safety plans, programs, policies, and procedures at all times.

Job Description

Atlas is seeking a Part-Time CMT Lab Technician to support construction materials testing and quality control efforts in our Beaumont, Texas laboratory. This position performs laboratory testing on soil, concrete, asphalt, and other construction materials while assisting with sample collection, equipment transport, and test preparation. The technician will maintain accurate electronic records, enter daily testing reports, and help ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards. This role requires travel to construction sites throughout Southeast Texas to pick up and deliver material samples and provide support to field personnel as needed.
