Atlas, a leader in environmental and infrastructure consulting, seeks a motivated CMT Field Technician to perform materials testing across Southeast Texas. You will travel to construction sites, document observations, and prepare electronic reports for project managers and engineers.

The role emphasizes safety, learning, and teamwork in a fast-paced outdoor environment with varying schedules. Prior certification is preferred but not required; strong willingness to develop skills is valued.

Responsibilities

• Perform construction-related field tests as directed by the CMT Manager and Senior Engineer.
• Travel to Southeast Texas project sites including overnight assignments.
• Communicate field observations and testing results to project managers and engineers.
• Transport equipment, specimens, and documents to labs and sites.
• Assist with setup and breakdown of testing equipment.
• Maintain daily field observation reports and electronic summaries.
• Perform field density testing of soil and testing of concrete, asphalt, and other materials.
• Support other departments and personnel on project tasks.
• Follow Atlas safety plans and procedures at all times.
• Travel up to 25% as required for assignments.

Job Description Atlas is seeking a motivated CMT Field Technician to perform construction materials testing and inspection services on a variety of infrastructure and commercial projects throughout Southeast Texas In this role you will conduct field testing of soil concrete asphalt and other construction materials to help ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards You will travel to construction sites document observations prepare electronic reports and communicate findings to project managers and engineers The ideal candidate is safety focused eager to learn and comfortable working in a fast paced outdoor environment with varying schedules and project locations Industry certifications such as ACI TXDOT or Asphalt certifications are preferred but not required for candidates with a strong willingness to develop their skills This position offers the opportunity to gain valuable hands on experience while contributing to the successful delivery of critical construction projects

Core Responsibilities

• Perform construction related field tests as directed by the Construction Materials Testing CMT Manager and Senior Engineer
• Travel to construction sites throughout Southeast Texas including overnight and weekend assignments as needed
• Communicate field observations and testing results to project managers and engineers with limited in field decision making responsibilities
• Transport equipment test specimens and documents to field personnel laboratories clients and other office locations
• Assist with the setup operation and breakdown of testing equipment in the field
• Enter and maintain daily field observation reports and summary reports electronically
• Perform field quality control testing of in place concrete
• Conduct field density testing of soil and perform testing on concrete asphalt and other construction materials
• Support technicians and professional staff with project related tasks and assist other departments as needed
• Follow Atlas safety plans programs policies and procedures to maintain a safe work environment

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
• Previous construction experience preferred
• TXDOT ACI Asphalt or related industry certifications are a plus
• Willingness to learn and work flexible shifts as needed to support project demands
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the ability to learn new software systems including TXDOT SiteManager
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to problem solve effectively under pressure while maintaining compliance with project specifications
• Knowledge of construction materials testing standards and procedures is preferred
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to travel up to 25 of the time as required for project assignments
