CMT/Geotechnical Engineer (Entry Level) – Alabama

A CMT/Geotechnical engineer with TTL is given the opportunity to work on a wide variety of project types and teams providing an opportunity to explore varying interests and develop passions. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, organized, creative, and responsible individual interested in working as part of a team, while developing personal technical and professional skills required for being a successful practicing engineer. The position involves combination of construction materials testing and geotechnical engineering understanding.

Description:

  • Provide CQA Services on CCR and Landfill projects including construction and closure of facilities.
  • Preparing scope of work and assessing projects for initialization and mobilization
  • Review construction documents (i.e. plans and specifications) in preparation of field site visits
  • Manages a team of field technicians performing compacted clay and geosynthetic liner inspections.
  • Staff/project engineering duties that include collecting and processing field data and assisting in report preparation for various types of projects
  • Performing field explorations and review of performance testing
  • May assist with or conduct Construction Materials Testing services.
  • Representing TTL at events such as client meetings, conferences, community events, etc.

Requirements:

  • B.S. in civil or construction engineering from an ABET accredited College/University
  • Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam or able to pass within 1 year of hire
  • Internships / part-time work and/or CO-OPs is a plus
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite 365 and AutoCAD
  • Ability to quickly learn how to use additional software/online applications.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with fellow employees (written and verbal)
  • Must be able to work independently as well as a team environment
  • Time management and organization skills
  • Perform heavy lifting up to 50+lbs and ability to work in seasonal conditions (hot, cold, rain, etc.)
  • May be required to work off-hours and weekends, travel overnight in state and out of state may be required (50% overall). Per Diem and lodging package provided.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Adhere to and implement TTL’s safety standards and culture.

:

  • Certified of ability to certify for the Compacted Clay and Geosynthetic Liner Inspector (GCI-ICP) course within 6 months.
  • ICC or NICET certifications for Soil, Concrete, or Asphalt

Job Type: Full-time
