Job summary

InTEC of San Antonio is seeking a dependable CMT Asphalt Laboratory Technician to conduct laboratory testing of asphalt and related materials. You will assist with sample prep, documentation, and equipment maintenance in our on-site laboratory.

The role requires attention to detail, ability to follow procedures, and a willingness to learn and adapt to project specifications. Prior asphalt testing experience is a plus and safety procedures must be followed at all times.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience with asphalt or construction materials testing is a plus.
• Familiarity with ASTM, AASHTO, or TxDOT testing procedures preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to follow written procedures and instructions.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing of asphalt, aggregates, and related construction materials.
• Receive, identify, label, and prepare material samples for testing.
• Perform testing in accordance with ASTM, AASHTO, TxDOT, project specifications, and company procedures.
• Perform asphalt testing such as: Asphalt content/extraction, Gradation and sieve analysis, Maximum specific gravity, Bulk specific gravity, Density and volumetric testing, Other asphalt mix testing as required.
• Accurately record test results, calculations, and observations.
• Review calculations and test data for accuracy.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, tools, and work areas.
• Perform routine equipment checks and assist with calibrations.
• Follow laboratory quality-control procedures.
• Communicate testing issues or unusual results to the Laboratory Supervisor.
• Follow all company and laboratory safety procedures.
• Maintain required testing records and documentation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Certifications

Preferred but not required:

• TxDOT Asphalt/Hot Mix certification
• ACI certifications
• NICET or other CMT certifications
• Previous asphalt laboratory experienced leadership positions.
