Job description

Position: Physical Education Teacher - 7-12 Grade Building

Reports to: Building Principal / Central Administration
Position Type: Certified, Teacher Contract, 185 days
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Valid State of Ohio Teaching Certificate/License
  • Successful completion of Praxis II in area of licensure or meet Highly Qualified Teacher criteria
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Willingness to work
  • Good organizational and decision-making skills
  • Good listening skills
  • Satisfactory work record
  • High mental and visual effort required
Overall Duties

The teacher will facilitate student learning according to policies of the Ohio Department of Education and Chillicothe City Schools. Responsibilities include planning, developing, and implementing instructional programs, maintaining professional relationships, and supporting student learning through positive interpersonal skills.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
  • Display content knowledge and pursue ongoing professional development
  • Plan lessons that consider prerequisite relationships and student misconceptions
  • Understand student developmental characteristics and exceptionalities
  • Use knowledge of student skills and knowledge to inform instruction
  • Set high learning goals aligned with district standards and assessments
  • Utilize various resources and technology to enhance instruction
  • Implement diverse teaching strategies to engage students
  • Assess student understanding and adjust instruction accordingly
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate with families
  • Collaborate with colleagues and participate in professional development
  • Follow district policies and perform other duties as assigned
