Job summary

AARP is seeking a Manager of CMS Engineering to lead a team of engineers responsible for the design, development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of enterprise CMS systems. The role blends hands-on development with architectural ownership across platforms and products.

You will guide architecture, ensure security and data integrity, and drive value through optimized engineering practices, audits, and ongoing operations. Hybrid work within the U.S. is supported.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 8+ years of application or software engineering experience.
• 5+ years shaping enterprise CMS platforms with strong CMS architecture knowledge.
• 2+ years hands-on Adobe Experience Manager (AEM).
• 3+ years in engineering leadership, mentoring, and talent development.
• Experience in cloud environments such as AWS.

Responsibilities

• Set the technical roadmap for the platform and coach engineers.
• Ensure sound integration, data, security, and architecture.
• Deliver rapid technical solutions aligned with outcomes.
• Provide technical leadership for audits, DR, operations, and third-party services.
• Troubleshoot platform issues and enable ongoing improvements.
• Lead communities of practice and share knowledge across teams.
• Ensure team goals and competencies through mentoring.
