Job summary

Libra Industries is seeking a CMM Programmer/Inspector in Dayton, OH to program, set up, and operate CMMs for precision inspections. You will document results, ensure conformance to drawings, and drive quality improvements in a manufacturing setting.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of CMM programming/inspector experience with Zeiss Calypso, ASQ CMI or GD&T training, and a high school diploma or GED. This role is based in a production environment with standard PPE requirements.

Qualifications

  • Experience operating CMM equipment in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • 3+ years programming and operating Zeiss Calypso.
  • ASQ CMI certification and AUKOM CMM training preferred.

Primary Function Of Position

Inspect manufactured products and program Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) to ensure compliance with customer specifications, engineering drawings, and Libra's quality standards. This role plays a key part in maintaining product quality through accurate inspection, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Inspect products for dimensional and visual compliance with customer specifications, engineering drawings, and internal quality requirements.
  • Program, set up, and operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) to perform precision inspections.
  • Document inspection results and approve or reject products based on established quality standards.
  • Recommend process or assembly improvements to enhance product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Assist with the identification, documentation, and control of nonconforming materials and products.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, inspection processes, and operational efficiency.
  • Follow inspection plans and quality control procedures to ensure consistent product conformity.
  • Maintain inspection records, quality documentation, and data files in accordance with Libra's Quality Management System.
  • Maintain CMM equipment, including probes, extensions, fixtures, and related accessories, to ensure reliable operation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Engineering Technology or a related technical field.
  • ASQ Certified Mechanical Inspector (CMI) certification.
  • AUKOM CMM training or certification.
  • ASME GD&T training and demonstrated proficiency.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience programming and operating Zeiss Calypso software.
Required Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience operating CMM equipment in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Work Environment
  • This position works in both office and manufacturing environments.
  • While working in the production area, exposure to moving mechanical equipment, airborne particles, and material handling vehicles should be expected.
  • Required personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn while on the manufacturing floor.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to see, hear, and communicate effectively while performing inspection activities.
  • Ability to stand and walk throughout the manufacturing facility for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand and arm movements associated with precision inspection and measuring equipment.
