Job summary

Twin City Die Castings Company seeks an experienced CMM Programmer to develop and optimize CMM programs and fixturing across multiple sites. You will operate CMMs, perform in-process inspections, and support FAI, capability studies, and NPD/ECR activities with GD&T expertise.

Travel to all three sites is required for technical support, calibration coordination, and training of quality personnel. Strong Zeiss Calypso experience and GD&T proficiency are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Minimum vocational schools training or associate’s degree required.
• Requires 3–5 years’ experience in programming with Zeiss Calypso.
• Completion of an advanced level GD&T training course is preferred.
• ASQ Certified Mechanical Inspector Certification is preferred.
• CNC machining experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop CMM programs per ASME Y14.5 for FAI and inspections.
• Design and source fixtures for all sites and optimize programs.
• Develop probing concepts and procure required probing.
• Provide technical support for CMM programs, equipment and software.
• Schedule annual CMM calibrations at all sites and renewals.
• Travel to three sites to support production and inspection.
• Review drawings for metrology concerns and GD&T input.
• Provide hands-on training to quality personnel in CMM programming.
• Perform daily in-process CMM inspections for production.
• Conduct First Article Inspections and GRRs for NPD/ECR.

Position Summary

Advanced knowledge of CMM programming software, equipment and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing to develop CMM programs & fixturing that ensures efficient and accurate measurements across all manufacturing sites. Also supporting its home plant by operating the CMM and performing in-process CMM inspection for Production and First Article Inspections in addition to capability studies for NPD & ECR activities.

Responsibilities/Duties/Tasks

• Develop CMM programs in accordance with AMSE Y14.5 for FAI, capability studies, and in-process inspections for all sites; revises programs as needed
• Design CMM fixture concepts and sources the design & build of fixtures for all sites
• Develops probing concepts and creates purchase req’s for probing that needs to be purchased
• Provides technical support for CMM programs, equipment, and software for all sites
• Schedules annual calibration for CMMs at all three sites
• Coordinates annual renewal of ZeissCare & SMA
• Ability to program offline, while operating the CMM to support production or FAI activities
• Review drawings & specifications to provide input on metrology concerns
• Advanced knowledge of GD&T
• Optimizes CMM programs for efficiency
• Travels to all three sites, as needed, to provide technical support
• Ability to use surface plate & alternate metrology methods to verify CMM results, or provide additional dimensional information, as required
• Provides hands-on training to other quality personnel to develop their CMM programming skills
• Performs daily CMM in-process inspections to support production
• Performs First Article Inspections, capability studies, & GRRs for NPD & ECR
• Provides complete First Article Inspection Reports to Quality Engineering, Engineering, or Production
• Perform incoming inspection of purchased components
• Discard or reject products, materials, and equipment not meeting specifications.
• Support 5S & continuous improvement initiatives
• Analyze and interpret blueprints, data, manuals, and other materials to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures, adjustment and certification methods, formulas, and measuring instruments required.
• Inspect, test, or measure materials, products, installations, and work for conformance to specifications.
• Notify supervisors and other personnel of production problems and assist in identifying and correcting these problems.
• Discuss inspection results with those responsible for products and recommend necessary corrective actions.
• Record inspection or test data; identify acceptance of rejection status.
• Observe and monitor production operations and equipment to ensure conformance to specifications and make or order necessary process or assembly adjustments.
• Analyze test data and make computations as necessary to determine test results.
• Responsible for knowing and following all environmental, health and safety rules, policies, and procedures for work area and takes responsibility to assure that personal work activity is conducted in such a way so as to not affect the safety of themselves or others.
• All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education and Experience
