Job summary

Bharat Forge Aluminum USA, Inc. in Tennessee seeks a quality inspector to program and operate the Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) and calibrate gauges to meet customer requirements and conformance to forging and machining drawings.

You will read blueprints, inspect forgings, die blocks and electrodes, measure dimensions, perform gauge R&R, and maintain records of customer approvals while following approved work instructions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, mathematics or related field preferred.
• 3+ years of experience operating CMM.
• Ability to read reflecting and interpreting technical drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and independent work capability.
• Proficient with measuring devices and basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Programs and operates Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) and calibrates gauges.

Description

Programs and operates Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), calibration of gauges, maintain various other items needed for quality control. Verification to conformance of Forging and machining drawings, and customer requirements.

• Programs Coordinate Measuring Machine using Calypso and Polyworks software.
• Reads and interprets blueprints and plans working procedure.
• Inspects forgings, die blocks and electrodes for compliance to required specifications and tolerance of blueprint.
• Measures dimensions, calculates and checks angles from established reference points. Uses shop formulas to calculate unknown dimensions.
• Determines the extent of discrepancies between print and proof and recommends how adjustments or corrections can be made.
• Maintains record file of all customer approvals.
• Designs basic gauges for inspection purposes.
• Utilizes approved work instructions for gauge calibration and certification for conformance to NIST.
• Performs gauge R&R studies.
• Completes any special customer certification requirements.
• Assist in setup of MPI.
• Perform dock audits as required.
• Utilize thermocouple to evaluate temperatures of billet for correlation studies
