Job summary

Schaller Group in Chesterfield, MI is seeking a on-site CMM Programmer. You will program, set up, and operate CMMs to inspect parts per engineering drawings, GD&T, and customer requirements, supporting root-cause analysis for quality issues.

In this role you will develop and optimize CMM programs, document results, and maintain inspection records while collaborating with quality, engineering, and production teams to drive process improvements and ensure calibration of gauges and measurement

Qualifications

  • Strong proficiency with measurement tools and techniques, including gauges.
  • Experience with inspection processes and quality control in manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of calibration procedures and maintaining measurement equipment accuracy.
  • Hands-on programming and operation of CMM equipment (PC-DMIS or similar).
  • Ability to read blueprints, GD&T, and engineering specifications.
  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in automotive, aerospace, or precision machining preferred.
  • Relevant technical certificate or associate degree in manufacturing or engineering technology.

Role Description

The CMM Programmer is a full-time, on-site role based in Chesterfield, MI. This role is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating coordinate measuring machines (CMM) to inspect parts and assemblies according to engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements. Day-to-day tasks include developing and optimizing CMM programs, performing dimensional inspections, documenting and reporting measurement results, and supporting root-cause analysis for quality issues. The role also involves collaborating with quality, engineering, and production teams to improve processes, ensuring calibration and proper use of gauges and measurement tools, and maintaining inspection records in accordance with company and industry standards.

Qualifications
  • Strong proficiency with measurement tools and techniques, including Measurements and Gauges.
  • Experience with Inspection processes and Quality Control in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of Calibration procedures and maintaining measurement equipment accuracy.
  • Hands‑on experience programming and operating CMM equipment (e.g., PC‑DMIS or similar software).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and engineering specifications.
  • Attention to detail, analytical mindset, and strong problem‑solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
  • Previous experience in automotive, aerospace, or precision machining preferred.
  • Relevant technical certificate or associate degree in manufacturing, engineering technology, or a related field is beneficial.
