Job summary

Vail Health is seeking a physician to provide comprehensive patient care at our Avon, CO hospital. You will perform examinations, assessments, diagnoses and treatments for a defined patient population, coordinating care across teams.

You will prescribe medications, monitor progress, advise on health and prevention, and refer patients to specialists as needed. A strong focus on safety and HIPAA compliance is required, with leadership responsibilities in certain programs.

Qualifications

  • 3 years of directly related experience, may include residency in a related medical specialty.
  • Federal DEA certification; Medical specialty license or certification; Board certified or board eligible.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain medical staff credentialing and privileges.
  • MD or DO degree from an accredited institution is required.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct patient care, including examinations, evaluations, diagnoses, and treatment for a specified patient population.
  • Prescribes or administers medications, vaccinations, and treatment regimens as appropriate.
  • Provides health and wellness advice on diet, activity, hygiene, and disease prevention.
  • Monitors patient progress, re-evaluates treatments, and explains results to patients.
  • Refers patients to specialists and relevant care components as needed.
  • May manage daily operations of a medical program or unit.
  • Directs nursing and support staff in patient care activities as required.
  • Follows policies, safety, infection control, and quality improvement standards.
  • Participates in health promotion and prevention programs as appropriate.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and maintains HIPAA compliance.

About the opportunity:

Provides comprehensive services functioning as an independent healthcare provider.

What you will do:
  • Provides and manages direct patient care, including physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses, and treatment for a specified patient population.
  • Prescribes or administers pharmaceuticals, other medications, immunizations, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions.
  • Provides health and wellness advice to patients, including diet, physical activity, hygiene, and disease prevention.
  • Monitors patients' conditions and progress, re-evaluating treatments, and explains procedures and test results or prescribed treatments with patients.
  • Refers patients to specialists and to relevant patient care components as appropriate.
  • May manage the daily operations of a specific medical program, patient care unit, or research function.
  • Directs and coordinates the patient care activities of nursing and support staff as required.
  • Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards.
  • As appropriate to the position, participates in specified health promotion, education and/or prevention programs.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  • Role models the principles of a Just Culture.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. Must be HIPAA compliant.

What you will need:
Experience:
  • 3 years of directly related experience which may include residency in a directly related medical specialty.
License(s) / Certification(s):
  • Federal DEA certification; Medical Specialty license or certification; Board certified or Board eligible in Specified Area of Medical Specialty required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain medical staff office credentialing and privileges required
Education:
  • Completion of a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree from an accredited institution is required.

Pay is based upon relevant education and experience per year.
