Job summary

Qualifications

• 1 year of practical experience in CMM programming or equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Experience using precision measurement instruments and inspection methods.

Responsibilities

• Configure, program, and run CMM inspections per first-article, in-process, and final checks.
• Analyze blueprints, CAD models, and GD&T to verify design intent.
• Develop and troubleshoot CMM programs with Calypso to improve efficiency.
• Conduct dimensional checks using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and optical comparators.
• Maintain accurate inspection records and generate FAIRs and customer reports.
• Report nonconformances and support root-cause investigations.
• Manage calibration logs and uphold quality systems and safety protocols.
• Mentor operators on measurement techniques to raise team capability.

Role Overview

As a CMM Operator, you will be instrumental in verifying that precision-engineered parts adhere to strict quality benchmarks. Key Responsibilities

• Configure, program, and run CMM machinery to execute first-article, in-process, and final inspections.
• Analyze engineering blueprints, CAD models, and GD&T specifications to ensure components meet design intent.
• Develop, refine, and troubleshoot CMM programs, utilizing platforms such as Calypso to improve measurement efficiency.
• Conduct dimensional assessments using hand tools like micrometers, calipers, height gages, and optical comparators to verify part integrity.
• Maintain accurate inspection records and produce quality documentation, including FAIRs and customer-specific reports.
• Report nonconformances to the relevant engineering and production teams to help minimize waste and improve output quality.
• Participate in root-cause investigations and corrective action processes to support ongoing operational excellence.
• Manage calibration logs and ensure all activities align with established quality systems and safety protocols.
• Mentor fellow operators and inspectors on measurement techniques and best practices to elevate the team's overall technical capability.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• At least 1 year of practical experience in CMM programming.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and technical requirements.
• Experience utilizing various precision measurement and inspection tools.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high quality standards.

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in aerospace, automotive, defense, or precision manufacturing sectors.
• Familiarity with FAIRs, PPAPs, and quality standards like AS9100 or ISO 9001.
• Proficiency with Calypso or comparable CMM software suites.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and quality management systems.
• Strong analytical problem-solving and communication abilities.
