Job summary

SpaceX is hiring a CMM Inspector (STARSHIP) to perform precision inspections of mechanical parts, assemblies, and materials. You will program and operate CMMs and Romer arms, review certifications, and ensure conformance to drawings and SpaceX specifications.

The role requires 3+ years in precision inspection, CMM/Faro Arm programming, and the ability to read engineering drawings. Aerospace environment exposure and AS9100/ISO 9001 experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
• 3+ years of precision mechanical inspection experience.
• 3+ years of programming and running CMM or Faro Arm experience.

Responsibilities

• Inspect feature tolerances by selecting the tool with required accuracy.
• Perform complex inspections on mechanical parts, components, assemblies and materials.
• Program and setup Articulating Arm (e.g. Romer), CMMs to achieve the desired inspections.
• Review documentation and verify certifications, specifications, and conformance to drawings/specifications.
• Inspect flight hardware at suppliers according to drawings, PO, standards, SpaceX specs.
• Ensure parts meet SpaceX specs or document non-conformance.
• Support development of inspection plans at suppliers.
• Support supplier corrective action process, including verifying implementation.

CMM INSPECTOR (STARSHIP)

Responsibilities

• Select and utilize standard gauges to ensure quality. Inspect feature tolerances by selecting the tool with the required accuracy
• Perform complex inspections on mechanical parts, components, assemblies and materials
• May include but is not limited to purchased parts, in-process and final assemblies, and materials for workmanship and conformance to specifications/drawings
• Program and setup Articulating Arm (ex. Romer), CMMs to achieve the desired inspections
• Perform documentation review and verification of certifications, specifications, and conformance to design and specification requirements
• Inspect flight hardware at the supplier according to engineering drawings, purchase order(s), industry standards, and SpaceX specifications
• Ensure that all parts meet SpaceX specifications and standards or that any non-conformance is documented at the supplier
• Support the development of inspection plans at suppliers
• Support supplier corrective action process, including verifying corrective action implementation

Basic Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate
• 3+ years of precision mechanical inspection experience
• 3+ years of programming and running CMM or Faro Arm experience

Preferred Skills And Experience

• Aerospace precision inspection experience
• Practical experience working within quality management systems (AS9100 and ISO 9001)
• CMM Programming with PC-DMIS software
• Romer Arm experience with Verisurf software
• Basic understanding of electronics inspection and propulsion valve operation
• Solid computer skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
• Statistical process control experience
• Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of managing priorities and tasks as delegated
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specification using ASME Y14.5. GD&T and skillful use of metrology tools and gauge

Additional Requirements

• Must be able to work Mon-Fri 10:00am - 10:00pm including overtime and weekends as needed
