Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Dimensional Inspector in Supply Chain (Starship) to perform complex inspections on mechanical parts, components, assemblies, and materials using CMMs, Romer Arms, and precision gauges. You will verify conformance to drawings, purchase orders, and SpaceX specifications.

The role requires 3+ years in precision mechanical inspection and 3+ years programming and running CMMs or Faro Arm, with strong GD&T and metrology skills.

Qualifications

Dimensional Inspector - Supply Chain (Starship)

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Select and utilize standard gauges to ensure quality. Inspect feature tolerances by choosing the tool with the required accuracy.
• Perform complex inspections on mechanical parts, components, assemblies, and materials.
• Include purchased parts, in‑process and final assemblies, and materials for workmanship and conformance to specifications/drawings.
• Program and set up Articulating Arm (e.g., Romer) and CMMs to achieve the desired inspections.
• Perform documentation review and verification of certifications, specifications, and conformance to design and specification requirements.
• Inspect flight hardware at the supplier according to engineering drawings, purchase orders, industry standards, and SpaceX specifications.
• Ensure all parts meet SpaceX specifications and standards or document any non‑conformance at the supplier.
• Support the development of inspection plans at suppliers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
• 3+ years of precision mechanical inspection experience.
• 3+ years of programming and running CMM or Faro Arm experience.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Practical experience working within quality management systems (AS9100 and ISO 9001).
• CMM Programming with PC-DMIS software.
• Romer Arm experience with Verisurf software.
• Basic understanding of electronics inspection and propulsion valve operation.
• Solid computer skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
• Statistical process control experience.
• Self‑motivated, proactive, and capable of managing priorities and tasks as delegated.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications using ASME Y14.5 GD&T and skillful use of metrology tools and gauges.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be able to work Mon‑Fri 7:00 am – 5:00 pm, including overtime and weekends as needed.
